Molecules are formed by two or more atoms (which are non-metals). 2 hydrogen atoms form a molecule, but 2 hydrogen and an oxygen atom form both a molecule and a compound. A compound is two or more different elements. Think about it as a compound word. Basket and ball are two separate words that form a compound word, basketball. Any questions?
